![]() Kelly J. Update
New CD-New Country Sound Kelly J. is in the studio right now working on her third CD, and the "buzz" from insiders is pointing in a new, exciting direction. Kelly J. Has chosen producer and arranger, Phil "Fang" Volk, whose extensive background in music and unique vision is creating a signature sound that her fans have never heard from her before. Part of the reason the chemistry and new direction seem to be working so well is the fact that Phil "Fang" Volk comes from a different musical era and genre than Kelly J. With over forty years in the music business, Fang is best known as the original bassist and singer for the legendary rock band of the 60’s and 70’s Paul Revere and the Raiders. This unusual merger of diverse talent is working magic in the studio. Phil "Fang" Volk’s four decades of musical experience along side of some of the greatest recording artists of our time promises to bring an intense and passionate energy to Kelly J."s project. As a musician, singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer, Fang brings new meaning to the term "thinking outside the box". The creative energy between Fang and Kelly J. promises to bring something brand new to the table that the country music world has yet to hear. Stay tuned. Eight songs are in the "can" and the album is projected to be finished by mid-summer. With Fang’s famous background and Kelly J.’s vocal genius, a truly new and provocative sound has emerged that country fans will stop and notice. ![]() ![]() On January 29th, 2010 our drummer Tim and his wife were the proud new parents of Isabelle Victoria 4 lbs 15 oz and Eliana Reid 4lbs 8 oz. Kelly J. and the band recently made an appearance with the “Morning Guys” Brian and Todd. Brian Gary and Todd Harding of K99 in Windsor, Colorado help promote the 28 Hours of Hope. 28 hours of Hope is a 28 hour marathon to raise money for battered and abused children. While Brian and Todd pop off their crazy sense of humor, callers donated to the local child abuse prevention center of their choice: (1) A Kid’s Place in Greeley, (2) Larimer County Child Advocacy Center in Fort Collins, or (3) Namaqua Center in Loveland. All three centers accept donations year round. Kelly J. performed 2 of her new songs on air to help bring in the calls. In the end the Good Morning Guys surpassed their goal with the help of listeners, local businesses, nationally and locally recognized artists, including an incredible $10,000 donation from Northern Colorado’s most recent lottery winner. Hundreds of pledges are attributed to the $94,417.69 raised for the 9th Annual 28 Hours of Hope. “It is truly amazing to be in a community where so many generous hearts are alive. I am so blessed,” sobs Brian Gary. Brian Gary and Todd Harding have also been named finalists for Medium Market On-Air Personality of the Year. CBS will broadcast the 42nd Annual ACM Awards show live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 15th. “Good Luck Guys!!! The whole band and crew is pulling for you!” –Love Kelly J. ![]() ![]() Franks Ride for Children
Make-A-Wish Foundation Kelly J. and her band will be performing once again at the "Frank's Ride for Children" (a Colorado chapter of the "Make a Wish Foundation") benefit this year. For the past 24 years, Frank's Ride for Children has raised money for children with life threatening medical conditions. Frank Aulino, the founder of this event, was an active member and officer of the Longmont Moose Lodge. He pulled his friends and local community businesses together to raise money for children who suffer from life-threatening diseases. A father and grandfather, he was a man who cared for the welfare of children and went out of his way to do whatever he could to help. In 1986 he originated a poker run as a benefit for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Participants in the event started the morning off with a breakfast at the Moose Lodge, and then they traveled along a specified course, stopping at certain points to draw a playing card. At the end of the ride, the players turned in their 5-card hand with the hope it would be the prize- winning highest poker hand. A large amount of money was raised on the initial run and Frankie began making plans for the next year, which turned out to be an even bigger event, with increasing revenues and participants. He was just coming off the high of that run and planning the next year's run when he died suddenly from a heart attack in July 1987. Frankie's Moose brothers who were left picked up the torch and organized a run that was later renamed in his honor. The Frank Aulino Ride for Children became an annual event, raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy, Denver Children's Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Kelly J. wants to make sure that all of her friends come out to help out this great cause. Bring your friends and your family to make a child smile. You don't have to "ride" to enjoy the party & entertainment! Visit www.franksrideforchildren.org for map and times. ![]() Kelly J.
